RSD Launching Richland Virtual School

UPDATE: Families choosing to transfer their children into Richland Virtual School will require a commitment to participate in the program for the entire 2020-21 school year. Deadline to enroll in the program is Aug. 19.

Richland Virtual School is Richland School District’s new, fully online and teacher-directed learning program for students in kindergarten through Grade 12. Offering engaging learning tailored to a virtual platform with RSD teachers trained in online instruction, it provides a powerful and personalized learning experience.

Richland Virtual School (RVS) is aimed at serving students and families who are not comfortable with an in-person instructional experience. RVS’ online instruction will not be affected by changes in public health requirements on schools or in the community, allowing students to learn without disruption and no downtime. Students will have daily/weekly/monthly benchmarks that they will need to accomplish and be held accountable for.

The new program is based on the model for Spokane Public Schools’ Spokane Virtual Learning, the largest public online instruction provider in the state and one that has a record of student success.

“This is all about bringing in a proven online model and pairing it with our own highly skilled teachers in our community to create the best virtual learning experience for our students so they can be successful,” says Dr. Jesse Buchholz, the district’s Director of Online Learning.

Families interested in RVS may transfer into the program which will require a commitment for the full 2020-21 school year. Complete the in-district transfer form and return it to the district’s Student Services office by placing it in the dropbox at the RSD Administration Office at 615 Snow Ave. or by sending it to Lynne.Wiskerchen@rsd.edu.
